Department of Science and Technologyheld a strategic round table with incubators, accelerators and government leaders in the Indian startup ecosystem at the Startup Utsav on August 12th, 2022.
Chief Guest Hon’ble Minister of State (IC) Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh enlightened everyone about the Indian Government’s efforts on encouraging startups in India. He insisted on a joint focus on "capacity building" by all stakeholders which will enable the ecosystem to build a leadership position.
The Government of India initiated Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav last year to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India. To celebrate the Mahotsav, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi initiated the One Month One Theme initiative which began in September, 2021 and will end in August, 2022. The following twelve themes identified for One Month One Theme initiative:
1)STI Institutions at the State level, 2) Human Resource Development, 3) R&D Infrastructure, 4) Indigenous Technologies, 5) Innovation & Start-ups, 6) Science Communication & Popularisation, 7) Women in S&T and S&T for Women, 8) Science & Society, 9) Future Technologies, 10) Basic Science for Atmanirbharata, 11) Atmanirbharata & Industry & 12) Intellectual Property Rights.
Spearheaded by Dr. Anita Gupta, Adviser & Head (Innovation & Entrepreneurship), DST; the Startup Utsav saw participation by multiple key stake holders from the ecosystem.
Shashank Randev, Founder VC, 100X.VCspoke on the importance of building the startup ecosystem groundup, by backing founders from DST funded incubators and multiple other centres.
