Introduction
EMO Energy is a deep tech startup that is building Safe Powerful Battery Packs to be charged in minutes rather than hours.
Safety, range & charging concerns plague electric two-wheelers currently on the market in India. The battery packs used were not designed for efficiency, thus requiring more than six hours to charge, which is simply too long for daily use.
As a result, fleet owners face daily downtime of about 6 hours, resulting in a loss of roughly 4 deliveries every hour. The batteries are also designed in an unsafe and unreliable manner, necessitating replacement every three years, resulting in enormous expenses over the vehicle's lifetime.
EMO has created a proprietary battery pack system, which includes their Thermal Management Technology that continuously monitors battery health and maintains consistent performance in all weather conditions. When compared to other 2 wheeler batteries on the market, their in-house software and hardware enables a 20-minute fast charge, 100% fire safety, and more than 5 years of life. Furthermore, EMO’s battery technology and benefits have been demonstrated in several field tests.
EMO team has Rahul Patel and Sheetanshu Tyagi, co-founders who met at Ola Electric 2 years ago where they led the team responsible for taking the S1 battery from concept to production.
Rahul and Sheetanshu eat, sleep and breathe batteries. Rahul did his master's from IIT Bombay and has spent the last 10 years engineering batteries at General Motors and Sun Mobility. Sheetanshu graduated with his Master's from Virginia Tech and went on to work in the battery team at Rivian and Ather. He was one of the first 50 members at Rivian and was part of a 3 personal team that developed the architecture of their battery pack.
Market Opportunity
EMO Batteries are applicable for two and three-wheelers across the globe. In India, about 15 million two-wheelers are sold each year. Electric vehicles will account for 5 million per year by 2025, an increase of 50% year over year. More than 70% of them will be used as commercial delivery vehicles by Fleet & Logistics companies. The total annual battery Market Projection by 2030 is $15 billion.
100X Thesis
EMO Energy's team pedigree and experience gives them the right to win. They are building the next frontier for the ever-growing EV market, not only relevant for India but for the globe. For the next-generation EV OEMs to capture a significant portion of the market, EMO energy offers longevity and battery life through their proprietary technology.
Conclusion
EMO Energy is solving a very difficult problem that not only caters to the Indian market but also global. EMO Energy is an company that looks to integrate its technology into the growing EV two-wheelers and three-wheelers market. We strongly believe that 5 Million Two Wheelers in India and many more around the globe are going to be using an EMO Battery Pack very soon. EMO Energy is the Future of Electric Batteries. We congratulate them and wish them the best of luck!
