Introduction
Fans and enthusiasts in niche categories struggle to follow their interests due to a lack of a single platform. There is no platform providing quality content beyond general news and updates. People who cannot pay for content discovery apps have to deal with ads and data usage concerns on free platforms. The influencer ecosystem in such categories was also growing at a fast pace but they are not able to monetize their content or grow a healthy and engaged community of viewers without technical hassle.
Abhishek and Dhawal, initially started by building a platform for local citizen awareness in IIT Kanpur. They learned that fandoms are a great conversation starter when it comes to any topic. They launched their first platform for creating content for all genres and scaled to around 1k users but the engagement was not as high as expected. Hence, they started building social communities on youth centric platforms such as discord and Quora. They eventually figured that Anime was a huge untapped genre of fandom and scaled communities on Quora which got around 10k followers. The key insights that they got was that existing anime communities are still catered by sub-par open-source communities with outdated technology which leads to scattering of the community.
